5 Reasons to Eat Healthy Sh*t That Have Nothing to Do With Weight Loss

  1. It Boosts Your Energy
    Paying attention to your nutrition and eating balanced meals and snacks can help fight that 3PM slump. What do I mean by balanced? Making sure each meal contains unprocessed whole carbohydrates, lean protein and a dose of healthy fat. This will keep your blood sugar levels stable and prevent you from crashing later in the day!
  2. It Can Pump Up Your Immunity
    Keeping your gut bacteria happy and healthy by including foods rich in complex carbohydrate, such as: oatmeal, beans, quinoa, butternut squash, sweet potatoes and/or probiotics in your diet can strengthen your immune system and reduce risk of infections. Probiotic-rich foods include: kefir*, yogurt*, sauerkraut, miso, kimchi and kombucha.
  3. It Protects Your Heart
    Taking a sensible approach to eating and changing your eating habits now will significantly benefit your ticker later on. Keep it simple, sweetie: lean meats and proteins, lots of nutrient-dense veggies, whole minimally processed grains (as long as you don’t have a condition that is aggravated by grains, of course), some fruit and a little bit of healthy fat are the standards to (literally) live by. Combine your eating habits with stress reducing activities like exercise, meditation, axe-throwing and sex (that sounds like the BEST date night EVER!) and you’ll significantly improve your chances of having a healthy heart.
  4. It Keeps You Strong
    Eating protein packed, nutrient-dense foods is the key to keeping your muscles strong so that you can do all kinds of awesome shit, whether that’s being able to deadlift double your bodyweight or being able to pick yourself up off the floor when you’re 80. Do YOU!
  5. It Helps You Poo
    In order to keep things moving in the loo, load up on lots of veggies & fruits for fiber along with probiotic-rich foods. Do your best to avoid greasy, fried foods or heavily processed/packaged foods. You don't want to gum up the works! The more regular you are, the better you'll feel!
